Please join us at Back Gallery Project on October 12, 2018 between 5-8pm for the Vernissage of Anthropocene –Vanishing Landscapes where Dawna Mueller will be showing her photos taken from the worlds remotest polar and alpine regions and taking about her expeditions to these fragile eco-systems at risk. The selection of photos show the common theme of landscapes changing due to increasing temperatures in unstable environments. Global warming is having extremely adverse effects in the polar regions as well as the Alpine and mountainous regions worldwide: glaciers are in retreat, ice caps are breaking apart in unprecedented sizes and numbers, Arctic ice is melting earlier every spring and every summer for the last three years has had documented record high temperatures. Entire species are at risk as the Polar Regions loose their ice, and the planet is at risk of rising oceans, increasingly volatile and destructive weather patterns, spreading disease and displacing communities. In this exhibition, Dawna shows the evidence and haunting beauty of what she has seen in these landscapes and environments with the intention of creating a dialogue to create social change and awareness. We hope to see you there.
